How it started

A lifetime on the water

I’ve been fishing since I was about five years old, when my dad first took me out with him. I’ve loved it ever since.

I enjoy every kind of fishing, from the ocean to small trout creeks, from casting to ice fishing. Over the years I’ve fished all over the country: Minnesota, Hawaii, California, Mississippi and Virginia.

The idea

Cold hands, one simple question

The idea came to me on a fall day chasing bass, northern pike and muskies. It was 35°F, and I refuse to wear gloves. I also refuse to stop fishing when I have the chance.

My fingers got so cold on the baitcaster that I could barely feel the line under my thumb. I’d make a few casts, then stop to warm my hands. With the wind blowing hard, I kept missing spots I could have been casting to.

How can I warm this rod up without buying a whole new setup?

I have plenty of rods I love to use, and I don’t want to replace them all. That’s where the heated handle sleeve came from: a heated sleeve that fits the rods you already own.
